Repurposing Patterns?

I have a friend that lost her mother several years ago. She gave me a box of her sewing supplies. Every now and then I will pull out some of those little goodies and use them.

See those 2 frames at the top of my new shelf. $3.99 each at Ikea. They are 11X14 and were screaming for some attention. I had an idea. I think Ms. Anderson's goodie box has some old patterns.

Framed the patterns and added some scrapbook paper cutouts that I made on my silhouette.

They are very fitting for my room and I love that there is sentiment involved.

We might have bought a few things.

This was the vehicle at the end of the first shopping day.

At the end of the shopping trip. I literally had to roll a back window down to get a bottle of water because we could not open any doors.

 I bought this stool at Garden Ridge and the hubby is gonna cut the top off and weld on an antique tractor seat that we bought 2 years ago for my workspace.

Bought this at a good will. It was honey oak and I had to spray paint it to match of course but it fits like a glove and replaces some plastic shelves that were bending under the pressure. I wish they had two of them. I love that it has several short spaces because I like things divided into perfect little categories.

These little handy dandy containers we 60% off at Michaels and thus I purchased 6 of them. After I called Steppy D and had her measure my desk. Perfect fit. Thx to my lovely assistant. I have also been wanting a comfy chair for my guest to come in and hang out while I work. So once again, Steppy D to the rescue. Not only did she babysit the girls but she drug the glide rocker into my sewing room and sent me a video of shots from around the room so that I could estimate if the new chair would fit. It's perfect!

And after. Don't it look cozy?  I love it.  I do need to spend a little more time decorating the shelves but I'm not exactly HGTV and I am trying to teach myself to be patient.

 I hope to make a pillow for the chair that matches soon. This is one that I have made but not sold yet.

I couldn't exactly get a close up of the shelf since my room is so small but here it is. $95 from the as is section at Ikea and the only flaw I can find is the dent I put in it myself trying to get to the check out line.
So my little barn house just gets a little more perfect everyday! Ok not everyday but everynow and then. On a day to day basis, it gets trashed, but I LOVE IT!

 

 

We had a blast!

Less than 6 hours before we  were to leave, I was diagnosed with kidney stones. WHAT? I have never had stones or symptoms before, but sure enough I passed a stone at work and they found 2 more in a catscan.  Am I concerned for my health? UHHH No, I am leaving for the fair tonight or bust. So one shot and a few pain pills later. I was packing my almost already packed bags. I needed to assits the plowboy in a field transition one final time before I left town and kiss them babies. Momma had to roll on.We stayed with my sister the first night to break the trip up and we made it in time for bed even though we had a missed turn which included driving the wrongway up a one way ramp. (Sorry honey, normally we are more cautious.)

 Finally we arrived. This is how it looked at the entrance. The park is, as promised, nestled amongst the stone mountain and trees. We had purchased the early bird tickets and felt like it was the right decision as we passed thru the crowds that were standing in line.

 I thought this was a wonderful idea. This lady used quilts as frame mats.

 This booth was by modern june. I had to buy some of her oilcloth and laminated fabric. She has an etsy store for anybody interested. I am not sure what I will do with it, but maybe there will be a post in the future.

 This lady had tons of recovered antique furniture. Definately not the standard reupholstered funeral home furniture that my mother in law used to produce.

And Yes, my BFF had to have a cupcake. I however opted for brown sugar almond icecream and both our hands were full by then so no photos. Sorry.

There were several things that I did not get pictures of because I was so fascinated with looking around and about half way through the booths I realized that photo taking could also be viewed as idea hacking. OOOps. MY FAVORITE BOOTH was Selina Vaughn Studios. She uses ..... wait for it.... Vintage Seed sacks to make...... come on guess..... Purses. So I had to tell her husband (from L.A. which ran her booth for her) that I love/hate them. Her purses are awesome!!! They were not entirely from seed sacks but were pieced on them and accented with brown leather. Seriously, they were FABULOUS. She also has an etsy store. Check it out.

And I thought it was super cool that they had several tents sent up to check bags so that you did not have to carry everything around. UPS also had a tent. Why carry it at all? Go ahead and ship it home. Now we know why these people can run a magazine. Business Brains. Very very smart idea. And there it is, the country living fair from my nutshell. Stay tuned for more photos from the trip. People we were in Atlanta. We don't go to Atlanta without going to IKEA.

I Promise, I've been busy.

I know, I know. It's been a month since I last put up a new post. I'm sorry all 6 followers. It's not that I haven't done any crafty activites, I guess I've just been so busy that I haven't taken the time to share with y'all. So I'm gonna try a new approach. Here are a few of the things that I have been working on that I remembered to take pictures of:

Homemade Donuts

I made 15 new clutches and sold all but 3of them.

This orange clutch made it's way to Knoxville, Tn.

This was breakfast one day before I started a diet. (I have lost 5 lbs and really want some oreos)

Matching hipsters for a set of very special twins that are having a BIRTHDAY ! Thier mother commissioned me for "owl purses." Very similar to my hooties that I have been making for years.

11 new baby pig for Ogg Farms.

Finally, a few seed sack pillows that I am hoping to sell at a new store downtown, LIVE OAK Wholesale and Acquisitions.

2nd coworker mama of yet another special BIRTHDAY GIRL wanted a hipster and coordinating IPad case.

Okie Dokie. That is a partial summary of what I have been working on!

Switcheroo

My little sister came over for some help with a painting project and since it went so quickly, I pulled a switcheroo on her and she ended up helping me. The 2nd floor of our house was added on while I was pregnant with #4. I can remember my belly touching the ground while I painted baseboards. Needless to say, the decorating got put on the back burner. I saw a picture years ago and knew it was something I had to do. Since then I have seen similar ideas on pinterest.

This is the beginning. I found it beside the barn at my in laws house. It had several pine needles all around and maybe a spider or two. My sister insisted that I spray it with lysol and since she was helping me I decided to do whatever she wanted to get her to stay.

So, we hung it above the kids couch after scrapping some paint off the walls and striping some screws. I feel like it was all worth it. What do you think?

 

I made these canvases of the kids bestest stuffed animals for christmas last year.

Bacon & Moo

 

 Stole the license plates from my father-in-law. They have been placed behind a wood post of yet another barn.

 Who knows how old this is. It was packed away inside one of five boxes full of the plowboys tractors in the attic area. (We don't have a real attic.)

I named my kids perfectly, just so that I could have this one day. And in some of the photos you can see my ombre (just learned this word) wall. I love the wall and am glad I did it, but it was alot of taping and moving and brush rinsing and measuring. I intentionally picked colors that we would not outgrow or get tired of.
